High Carbon 1060 Steel Wire

Strong, versatile, wear resistant.

1060 Stainless Steel Wire

Stainless Steel Products manufactures Stainless Steel 1060 alloy in round wire, flat wire, cut to length for the performance you need for the most demanding uses.

Attributes

Stainless Steel 1060 alloy is one of the most popular general purpose steel alloys, and offers a long list of benefits when made into wire:

  • General purpose engineering and structural steel.
  •  high strength
  • Wear resistant
  • Low ductility
  • Faily high conductivity

Having the right blend

Stainless Steel 1060 alloy is a blend of carbon, iron, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur materials. Stainless Steel 1060 alloy is composed of:

Carbon0.55%0.66%
Iron98.35%98.85%
Manganese0.60%0.90%
Phosphorus<=0.04%
Sulfur<=0.05%

Electro galvanizing

Electro galvanizing (zinc electro plating) is corrosion resistant. The coating is smooth, uniform and has a bright finish ideal for applications where aesthetics is important. Electro galvanizing is economical.

Hot Dip Galvanizing

In hot dip galvanizing, after steel wire has been thoroughly cleaned, it is dipped into a molten zinc bath. This process applies a very heavy coat which is typically 5-10x thicker than electro galvanizing.  Because this plating is thicker, it is more durable and lasts far longer in field applications than electro galvanizing.  Hot dip galvanized wire is dull gray color in appearance. A typical application for hot dip galvanized wire is for use at construction sites. Please be advised due to the complex process required for hot dip galvanizing it is more expensive than electro galvanized wire.

Supplying the wire you need
