Electro galvanizing
Electro galvanizing (zinc electro plating) is corrosion resistant. The coating is smooth, uniform and has a bright finish ideal for applications where aesthetics is important. Electro galvanizing is economical.
Hot Dip Galvanizing
In hot dip galvanizing, after steel wire has been thoroughly cleaned, it is dipped into a molten zinc bath. This process applies a very heavy coat which is typically 5-10x thicker than electro galvanizing. Because this plating is thicker, it is more durable and lasts far longer in field applications than electro galvanizing. Hot dip galvanized wire is dull gray color in appearance. A typical application for hot dip galvanized wire is for use at construction sites. Please be advised due to the complex process required for hot dip galvanizing it is more expensive than electro galvanized wire.
