Wire Drawing Services

Wire drawing produces precision wire diameter at target tensile strength and hardness.

Starting wire or wire rod is fed through a sequential series of precision dies which reduce the wire diameter and incrementally increase the tensile strength and wire hardness. Most drawing dies are either carbide or for ultra-high polish finish, Stainless Steel Products can utilize PCD or commercial grade polycrystalline diamond dies.

Our wire drawing services offer flexibility to meet custom tensile and hardness requirements for both small prototype and large production runs.

The benefits of custom wire drawing are numerous:

Drawn wire can be supplied in coil, on spools, or cut to specific straight lengths. (See straightening and cutting services). The latest CNC machines utilize coiled wire because it greatly saves shop space as opposed to 12’ feeder rods.
