Alloy Chemistry

Alloys are metals made by combining two or more metallic elements to give greater strength, resistance to corrosion, high heat or other important properties used by manufacturers across the spectrum of applications.  Chemistries are standardized globally using the Unified Numbering System (UNS).  This system specifies the allowable range of elements which make up the specific alloy.   The chart below is a list of the most common stainless steel alloys:
